It's Outta Here! - Video Clip of the Week

I so enjoy being proven right. I told Nick this summer that we should get the boys a t-ball set for their birthday. He shot the idea down and said the boys were too young and they'd probably just use the bat to hit each other.

This past weekend he was proven wrong. Attached to the new bouncy house is a t-ball set, and it's probably the favorite part of the bounce house right now! I'm not sure who taught it to them, but in this week's video you can hear Jackson yell "It's Outta Here!" every time he hits the ball!

Health update: The boys have a dr. appointment this afternoon. The cold moved quickly into their chest and I'm hearing way more rattling and wheezing than I'm comfortable with.

Video Clip of the Week - Talking Time

Let the record show, the boys are 21 months old today! Wow! Where is the time going?! It's hard to believe my little "babies" will be 2 in just 3 short months. I don't think I'm ready for that!

Three months ago at the boys' 18 month appointment I was slightly concerned with the lack of talking the boys did. They each only knew a very small handful of words. The doctor assured me that it was totally fine and that if they weren't talking up a storm by age 2 to be worried. I don't think I'll have to worry.

In the last month the boys' language skills have just exploded including some two word sentences! (New Day, Green Car, More Please, Eat Outside, etc) I caught a few of the boys cute new words and moments on film over the weekend for your general amusement.

What was that last one you ask? Why it was Jackson saying "dot com" along with the Baby Einstein voice! All three of them chime in with "dot com" at the end of each Signing Time DVD and now with Baby Einstein. What will we ever do with these digital age kids?

Video Clip of the Week - Toddler Talk

I was doubtful this video clip of the week would actually come together. The boys have some adorable ways of saying words and I desperately wanted to catch some on video, but as a general rule all cuteness stops when the video camera comes out.

I noticed a couple of things while filming the boys yesterday afternoon...

1. Jackson is a bit of a camera hog! You'll notice he's constantly moving into the shot...

2. It's no wonder Tyler doesn't say nearly as many words as his brothers... they don't let him talk!

Oh and to be clear, Tyler doesn't chew/suck on his blanket like Jackson does - he merely holds it up to his mouth and does this weird thing with this lips and tongue. I can't even describe it. LOL!

A big thanks to those who have nominated me already for the MomLogic Mother of All Bloggers contest! I still need 5 more nominations though by the end of the week! Please go to my MomLogic profile and write on my "wall" that you're nominating me!

New Game?

I'll give my boys this... they sure are creative when it comes to entertaining themselves! Being stuck inside for much of the winter will do that to you though I suppose...

A couple of days ago I observed the boys pushing the basketball hoop around the living room and then out into the kitchen. I guess it's a new version of keep-away. Instead of keeping away the ball they keep away the hoop!

Not 10 minutes later I looked over to see the hoop on it's side. Chase thought that was pretty neat so he started to try to flip the slide. Tyler nicely decided to help him out with that one. As soon as the slide was flipped Chase ran over to the turtle and flipped it over. I decided at this point to distract the destructors with something else before they attempted flipping something bigger like an end table, or the sofa.

Forks!

In the unbelievable excitement of my husband returning home last Thursday night (he had been gone since Monday morning), I completely forgot to blog on Friday! I'm sure any mom of young kids who has been left to fend for herself for 4 days can understand my excitement. At any rate, I apologize for leaving you hanging!

While Nick was gone, we had a break through at the dinner table. One night I gave the boys mac 'n cheese with peas. I ambitiously decided to stick a fork in each bowl and see what would happen. Generally the boys like to just chew on the forks while shoveling food into their mouths with their other hand. Not tonight though!

The first thing Mr. Chase did was pick up that fork and put it in this mouth... with food on the fork! I couldn't believe my eyes. I cheered him on and told him to do it again while signing "more". He giggled and did it again. My child actually scooped some food onto that fork and put the fork in his mouth before the food could fall off again! I just kept cheering him on and before I knew it dinner was over and he had eaten probably 3/4 of his dinner using a fork.

Here are a few pictures I snapped of Chase using his fork. Now to teach his brothers how to use theirs!

Uh Oh...

The boys are at it again. Plotting and scheming together. This mommy is in trouble! Their first act of plotting was mild, but I knew it was only the beginning. I have a feeling things are only going to escalate quickly from here.

That's right. The monkeys took the top off of the activity table, pushed the table up against the couch and then used the table as a "step stool" onto the couch. I knew my day would come, as another triplet mom posted similar pictures months ago on her blog!
Now to teach them that climbing on the arms of the couch or running back and forth across the couch are not acceptable behavior.

Crib Antics

When the boys wake up too early from their nap (anything under 2 hours is too early), I leave them in their cribs a bit longer in hopes that they'll go back to sleep. Sometimes they do and sometimes, well sometimes it turns into playtime for them...

Earlier this week I heard quite a bit of giggling coming from their bedroom, but I resisted the urge to look in on them. I knew as soon as they saw me, nap time would be all over. Finally about about 15 minutes of listening to them carrying on, I decided to give up on nap time for the day. Here's what I found.

See that nice, neat pile of blankets in front of Chase's crib? Those would be the blankets that had started out in their cribs at nap time. Apparently they thought it would be fun to pass them all down to Chase so that he could throw them out of his crib. Obviously Jackson passed his to Tyler, who then passed it on to Chase because there's no way he tossed his blanket all the way over there!

I feel like this is the beginning of their plotting stage and it's making this mommy nervous.

High Five!

This past weekend Nick taught Chase a neat new trick. The ever popular "high five"! It really didn't take long for Chase to figure out that when Daddy put his hand up in the air he wanted Chase to slap it.

Chase is quite generous with his "fives" too as he routinely does not just give "five"... usually it's more like fifteen or twenty!

Next time you see Chase, hold your hand up and ask him to "give you five". Hopefully he won't leave you hanging :)

Also, I added a few cute pictures to the new 14-16 months album (yup, the boys are 14 months old now!). Check 'em out!
