I Love My Kids

Yesterday afternoon, at about 3:30pm, Tyler wandered out of his bedroom. He'd just woken up from his nap. Instead of sleepily wandering down the hall to say hello to me, he stood in the doorway to his room and broke into song. The tune of choice? I Like To Move It, Move It.

I tried to stifle the giggles as I looked down the hall to see what would happen next. After he ran through the chorus once, he dropped his blanket at the door and walked out to the living room. I stood in the kitchen and watched him dance around the room singing the chorus over and over. Eventually he stopped and came over to say hi to me.

I love my kids. Period.

Video Clip of the Week - Double Feature!

As a way of saying "thanks" for your patience in waiting for me to post today (like you really had a choice), I'm pleased to offer you a video clip double feature!

Toddler Prayers: For the last couple of weeks (since the boys had the stomach flu) we've heard the following tacked onto our mealtime prayers...

Please help bellies feel better, so we can go to Chick Fil A and McDonalds.
In Jesus name, Amen
Sometimes that prayer will then be followed by a song they learned in church or even part of the Signing Time theme song. Good times! Anyway, it cracks Nick and me up on a daily basis, so on Sunday (yup, that's fresh snow there in the background) I whipped out the camera to catch it on video. They kind of talk over each other, but you get the idea.

Singing Games: My sister, Aunt Laura, is a dance teacher. A couple of months ago she taught the boys a little "game" she plays with some of her youngest students. The boys love the game and apparently while Aunt Laura was watching them this past Sunday she played the game with them again. This video features Jackson (on the left) and Tyler (on the right) showing off. Oh, and I should mention this is also the song that Chase was singing the other night that ticked the other two off.

Sailing, sailing, over the ocean blue
Tip, tip, tip
Fall over and kick your legs
Get back in the boat! Get back in the boat!

Boom Chaka Laka - Video Clip of the Week

The boys love to dance. We've seen it before, but it never gets old for me! One of their favorite things to do (besides playing the dancing game on Wii) is to listen to music on the computer and dance to that. On this particular day we were listening to music from Phil Joel's website and the song of choice was Boom-Chaka-Laka! The boys learned some fun moves to this song in Sunday School and they love to sing along too. If you listen closely, you can even hear them trying to sing/say "Love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness, kindness, faith and self-control" - quite a mouthful for two and a half year olds!

Chase is wearing red, Tyler in stripes and that's Jackson popping in at the very last second.

2 Year Old Beat Boxing - Video Clip of the Week

I know I usually post to my blog in the AM and it is now after 2pm here in good old Central Time Zone, but I was having some serious video issues. I won't bore you with all the details. Just sit back, relax and enjoy this 30 second gem of Jackson beat boxing and singing Jingle Bells! Sure to make you laugh. (Turn up your volume - he's kinda quiet!)

Oh and for those curious what that was that Tyler said early on in the video....

"No Tyler cheese" followed by his camera clicking sound effect. Apparently he didn't want his picture taken.

My How We've Grown

Last Christmas my sister Laura received a pair of Ugg Boots as a gift. She opened them at my house and the boys thought they were pretty cool. We snapped these pictures of Chase wearing them...

Notice how they pretty much encase his whole leg? Well the other night Laura was over here visiting and she had worn her Uggs. She had taken them off at the door and about an hour into her visit Jackson found them and put them on. Let's just say it's good visual evidence of how much they've grown in just one year!

Then Tyler tried them on.

Speaking of growing up and Christmas.... Nick told me this morning that all three boys were up at 6:15 this morning. Their normal wake up time is 7 or 7:15, so an hour early was noteworthy. Even more noteworthy though is that all three of them were up and singing. What were they singing you ask? Why their favorite Christmas song of course: Simply Having A Wonderful Christmas Time by Paul McCartney!
