The boys are climbers. Serious climbers. They climb onto chairs. They climb from the chairs onto the table (which is a big no-no). They climb onto the back of the couch. I caught Jackson twice yesterday trying to scale the side of the TV stand. Nick and I know it's only a matter of time before they attempt climbing out of their cribs; more and more often we're catching them with one leg slung over the rail of their cribs.
Many of my online triplet mom friends talk about a Kangaroo Climber and what a life saver it is with their climbing trio. I looked it up online finally the other night and suspect my climbers wouldn't be satisfied with it. It's just not high enough or exciting enough...
As I'm typing this post, Nick has taken matters into his own hands and created a mountain for the boys to climb (although they're all calling it a boat for some reason):

Speaking of Change...
First on the agenda today - one of my PJ winners still hasn't contacted me, so I was forced to have Tyler draw an alternate winner!
Ok, on to regularly scheduled blogging...
Last night Nick came home from church with birthday gifts for the boys. Yes, their birthday was 6 weeks ago so yes, these gifts are a tad bit late. You know what though? They won't be the latest birthday gifts they'll receive... Anyway, these gifts were from one of the girls in a high school girls small group I led for several years (I don't any longer because my girls all headed to college this fall). One of the gifts was a View Finder.

The Fun We Have
I like to think we're a family that knows how to have fun. Whether it's building large forts out of bed sheets, taking trips to a nearby park, coloring on the walls in coloring books or any number of other things, we have fun. My boys have proven recently that they're perfectly capable of having fun without their toys. Don't get me wrong, they love their toys and have fun with those too but sometimes emptying Mommy's pantry is far more entertaining....

Boxes
It's the simple things in life that entertain my boys the most. Watching cars drive past our house, dogs in books, magazines or outside, sticks in the yard and boxes in the house.
A couple of days ago I looked into the living room to find Tyler like this...
He was just sitting there, happy as can be! When I remarked how silly he was being he threw the box off his head and grinned at me.
Then yesterday when I drank my last Diet Coke (oh the sadness!) I gave the boys the box to play with. Tyler almost immediately ripped it in half (my big tough guy). About 10 minutes later a Diet Coke box walked by...
That's Jackson under that box. He thought it made a great hat!

The Simple Things
Did you know that last week there was a new addition to the Toy Hall of Fame? Care to guess what it is? Here's a hint - there are probably tons of them in your back yard.... sticks. Yep, the stick entered The Toy Hall of Fame. Such a simple thing has brought so much fun to children everywhere!
Jackson, Tyler and Chase seem to enjoy the simple things in life as well. We aren't letting them play with sticks yet, as it's likely an eye would be poked out, however there are other household objects they enjoy. Cups, food storage containers, newspapers, etc. all are suitable forms of entertainment. The other day we needed to use all the chairs in our kitchen, so we took the Grow With Me Boosters off the chairs and set them on the floor. Immediately the boys were intrigued!
Jackson and Tyler (pictured above) spent probably 20 minutes playing in their chairs. They were so thrilled to have a little seat of their own! The next day we needed to put one of the boosters on the floor again and Jackson claimed it as his little spot, which made Chase jealous so Nick had to put another one of the floor. They spent hours coming and going from their booster seats.
I told Nick that it's good to know the boys can be entertained by such simple things because that means I can just whip something simple out this winter when the boys are going stir crazy here at the house. He wisely told me that that ploy likely wouldn't work when I wanted it to. Thanks for the support!
