I Love Having Triplets

Let me be clear about my title - there is zero sarcasm in it! Last week it dawned on me that I absolutely love having triplets. Given the chance to go back in time and be told I could have just one baby or three, I totally would pick three.

My life is like a nonstop playdate. I don't have to worry about the boys getting bored or lonely. I get to sit back and watch my kids play with each other. Every so often I'm asked to join in, but usually they're content to play with each other.

Granted, the nap time and bedtime parties are getting a little old but at least they're being cute and chatting with each other.

Yesterday Tyler was on the toilet and Chase pulled the stool up right next to him, sat down on it and said "What you doing Tyler?" Stinking adorable!

I love looking into the living room and seeing the boys all snuggled up on the couch together, with their blankets, watching a movie. I love walking back to the playroom and finding them all lined up on the futon reading books together.

I love the hugs they've started giving each other. A couple of weeks ago Tyler (I think it was him) bumped his head when he tripped in the living room. Instead of coming to me for a hug, he went to Chase for one! I was delighted to see Chase give him the hug back and not try to push him to the ground in a tackle instead.

This past weekend I got to chat with a mom of 9 year old triplets (her kids were in the wedding). She agreed that having triplets is the best experience and she'd do it again in a heartbeat too. There's just something amazing about watching three little people go through the exact same stages at the exact same time.

Sure, life is challenging at times. But life sounds plenty challenging when you have just one kid too (obviously I'm not speaking from experience here). Honestly? I'd wish triplets on any of my friends :) It's an amazing experience not enough mom's get to enjoy! Life has been amazing the last 2 and a half years and I can't wait to watch the boys grow in their friendship.

Chaos and WaterWeek Winner!

I had Jackson help me draw our winner for the WaterWeek giveaway! As you can see, he wanted to keep the info to himself...

Congrats Erin! Send your name and address to threetimesthegiggles@gmail.com by Monday at 9pm CST or I'll have to draw an alternate winner.

This past week the boys and I attended a fun little Halloween party. Really it was more of a giant, chaotic playdate with some eyeballs on sticks for a snack. What? You don't believe me when I say it was chaotic?

Told ya! The party consisted of 4 sets of triplets, a set of quintuplets and 4 single siblings. I think the oldest kids there were 5. Chaos! The boys had so much fun though.

Our attempt at a group picture was a tough one...

Best part about the party? The boys took 3.5 hour long naps that afternoon! Woohoo!

Fun With Grandparents - Pt 1 of 3

Don't forget, today is your last day to submit a question (or two or three!) to my Q & A session! All questions will be answered in tomorrow's post. Ask your question here.

Last weekend my parents arrived for a two week visit to the mid-west and Texas. On Monday afternoon they headed to Texas (driving) to visit my brother and his family for a few days. This coming Monday they'll return here for a few more days before heading back to Maine. Then two days after they leave Nick's family will arrive for a visit, which is why the "Fun With Grandparents" will consist of 3 parts!

We managed to pack a lot of fun into the first part of my parents' visit here. We took the boys to the pool at the hotel my parents were staying at. Let me just say, Jackson is CRAZY in the water! The kid was exhausting to try to hold and keep above water and we all traded off with him several times.

I promise you my dad was not trying to drown a grandson here... just happened to catch the fall on camera!

This one makes me laugh!

We also took Grandma and Pop Pop to the Triplets Plus of Kansas City family picnic. It was 100 degrees and miserably humid, but we all had fun anyway!

This would be Jackson wiping grass off his tongue after he face planted while running in the grass.
This isn't even the entire group... One set of kids took off running and their mom was chasing them down during photo time. There were some other stragglers too. It's tough getting that many kids to hold still for a picture!

The boys also played in the sandbox with Grandma and Pop Pop for a bit

Then I tried to take a picture of the boys with Grandma and Pop Pop... That didn't go so well. Tyler decided at that moment to be super clingy to me. This was the only one where he didn't look like he wanted to get away and wouldn't you know my mom wasn't looking at the camera?

Video Clip of the Week - Chaos: The Movie

As promised yesterday, here's a little video footage from the crazy triplet pool party we attended on Sunday afternoon. It turns out I didn't take as much video as I thought! It's hard to truly capture the chaotic nature of the day when I couldn't get all 13 kids in one shot.

Utter Chaos

Sunday afternoon was filled with utter chaos. For a triplet mom though, the chaos was something to enjoy and thrive on! Here, let me run the numbers for you...

4 triplet families

12 toddlers between the ages of 19 and 21 months

One rambunctious 4 year old boy

Of the 13 children only 1 was a girl

Chaos I tell you! One of my triplet mom friends was kind enough to throw together an impromptu playdate/pool party/cook out on Sunday afternoon. There were several kiddie pools ranging in size from tiny to pretty large, a giant ball that is also a sprinkler, a slip 'n slide, a swing set and a fun climbing structure. Good times were had by all! Unfortunately Nick had to miss the fun as he had a final church service of the day to be at. Tomorrow I'll share some video footage with you, but for now here are some pictures of the day...
