Summer of Change

Allow me to take a brief break from blogging about the boys to instead blog about myself.

I have a problem. My children will be 3 years old in just a hair over 3 months and I'm still packing the "baby weight". *sigh* Ok, maybe "packing" is the wrong term. I am currently 26 pounds lighter than I was when I went back to Weight Watchers 6 weeks after I had the boys. At one point this winter I was down 37 pounds though and was only 2 pounds away from my pre-baby weight. Leave it to me though to completely sabotage myself and gain 11 pounds back.

Yesterday morning, after 4 days of eating out and over indulging with the in-laws, I weighed myself. I hadn't remembered to check in on my weight in 2 weeks, so I'm not sure how much of the number of the scale was related to "water weight" or was the real deal. Either way, I knew it was time to crack down. I'm now 13 pounds away from my pre-baby weight and 18 pounds from my goal weight.

The Plan:

  •  Right Now: I'm reviewing all of my Weight Watchers materials and I've gotten back into journaling. I also have been pouring over the materials at www.parents.com/babyweight. (Hello, free meal plans and workout routines!)
  • In the very near future: We will be getting a membership at a nearby gym. I'm looking forward to taking part in the classes they offer, as well as getting back into using weight machines. I miss that.
  • Later this summer: I'll be doing one of those month long boot camp programs. It will mean leaving my house shortly after 5am 3 days a week, but I'm going to suck it up and deal with it.
With a lot of hard work I should be at my goal weight by the boys' 3rd birthday. I've got 14 weeks and 18 pounds to lose - totally doable if I stay focused! I'm calling this my Summer of Change and you can expect to read about it here several times this summer. You'll also notice on the sidebar I've added a little weight/BMI tracker.

Time to hit the ground running and not look back.

Yay Helen - you are such great inspiration! I'm .2 lbs from hitting 20 gone! (remember at WW we don't say "lost"!) Also enjoying Lose it for Life with your mom! I'll be working hard this summer right along with you. It's always easier with company!
love you!

Good luck Helen...I "got rid of" the last of my baby weight last year (mind you my youngest baby is now almost 6!!!) and it was the best thing I did for myself. The energy I have now is just amazing.

My good friend teaches "The Boot Camp Challenge" here in NY and I took her class for a year. I am starting again next week, so I'll think of you to stay motivated at 5:00am when the alarm goes off!

Remember...a healthy mommy is a happy mommy!!

Good for you, Helen! I know you were running at one point - are you still doing so? I find that running really keeps me in great shape.

Good for you, Helen! I started back to the 30-day shred this morning after putting on shorts yesterday and realizing that they were TIGHT!

I look forward to hearing about your progress; you can do it!

I love the little gadget on the sidebar. I'm about 10 pound from my goal weight so I'll fight right along with you.

Way to go Helen. I am with you on this. I have to get back on track myself.

Love all these posts of people planning to change with me!

Sarah, I haven't been running in probably a month. I really need to force myself back into the habit this week! Thanks for the reminder :)

I'm right there with you! I am 5 lbs from pre-pregnancy weight and 15lbs from my goal weight. I'd love to work out with you at the gym. I agree that this summer is the summer of change! You'll love the boot camp too.
