Slacker

Ladies and Gentlemen, I have an announcement. I am a slacker. Not a slacker in the ways you might suspect, but a slacker when it comes to my personal health. Remember a few weeks ago when I said I was going to start running again? Yeah... I did great for the first week but then took the last 8 days off. Whoops! I did at least drag my sleepy behind out of bed this morning and start running again, so that felt good.

Not only am I slacker when it comes to exercise, but I'm a slacker when it comes to my diet too. Maybe slacker is the wrong term... distracted puppy might be more accurate. My morning starts with excited determination to stay on track eating wise. I start running along and suddenly see a squirrel (fruit snacks with the boys) and then I get back on course running after my health, then I see a stick (cookies or any other sugary, evil thing)! Oh dear, I spent an awful lot of time with that stick.... So by now I'm just walking after my health when I suddenly spot a tennis ball (cheese and crackers anyone?). Well now I'm just a sluggish puppy so I think I'll curl up in the living room and rest and start fresh tomorrow. Now what was it I was chasing?

It's really no wonder I've been at essentially the same weight for a year. The above is what often happens in my home. It's like I don't care enough about myself. I think it's time to start packing my lunch again for myself like I did when I was working. Lunch is tough here. By the time I get the boys down for their nap I'm drained and the last thing I want to do is make myself lunch so I end up grazing on squirrels, sticks and tennis balls. The one silver lining to this crazy, distracted cloud? When I finally do lose these last 10-15 pounds I should be good to go with maintaining my weight. Ha!

Ok, and just for your general amusement, here is a picture of Farmer Ty from this morning (thanks Meme and Papa for the cool overalls!)

We're up to 34 comments so far this week! Only 3 more days to comment; keep 'em coming!

I have the same problem with only one kid. And now that's is cold outside I can't even take my 2-3 walks a day. I hate having to drive to the mall to walk around. Anyone have some suggestions for a chubby gal on a budget?

I can totally relate, Helen! It was easy before I had Sutton to stay on track. Now, the distractions are endless! Keep at it! You can do it! :)

grazing on a squirrel is a new one for me! LOL

You can do it, Helen! :)

Thinking I could run because it would maintain my "neutral" back position, I did Wk1 Day1 of C25k early las week and regretted it for days afterward in sciatic pain! So I know what ya mean.

I think you should put the whole family in overalls and take a group picture. Adorable !!!

I know the feeling. I haven't been running b/c the only time I can fit it in would be 9 at night.

Um, I think I need to just copy and paste this post into my blog - it's EXACTLY what's happening to me (sans 2 kids). Great analogy BTW.

And I agree, you need to put the whole family in overalls for a group pic. I LOVE boys in overalls :)

AND I LOVE THE OVERALLS! He looks so proud of himself. Your boys are too cute.

I definitely think you need to get some sheep and take a picture of the family in front of them. then name one buttercup and one bananaface.

There is nothing cuter than a little kid in overalls... well, maybe 3 little kids in overalls. :)

I know how hard it is to stay on the exercise wagon. I'm trying to get back on it.
