Saturday Savings - A Great Stock Up Week

Oh boy was it a good week!! Look at that table - it's just bursting with food! Everything up there ran me $80.95, but it retails for much more than that. And bonus, I won't be buying chicken for a loooong time. Here's what's on the table:

Whole Milk - 1
Tortillas - 2 packages
Sugar - 5 pound bag

Price Chopper:

Sara Lee Bread - 1
Wonder Hot Dog & Hamburger Buns - 1 of each
Farmland Sausage - 2 boxes
Oscar Mayer Deli Meat - 2 packages
I Can't Believe It's Not Butter baking sticks - 1 box
I Can't Believe It's Not Butter - 2 packages
Blue Bunny Ice Cream Bars - 3 boxes
Welch's Squeezable Jam - 1
Pop Secret mini bags - 10 ct. box

Hy-Vee:

Red Seedless Grapes - 2 pounds
Bananas - 3.5 pounds
Hy-Vee Fruit Snacks - 3 boxes
Kellogg's Special K - 2 boxes

Tyson Chicken Nuggets - 2, 29 oz bags
Hy-Vee Wheat Bread - 2 loaves
Keebler Fudge Shop Cookies - 4 packages

Clearance Bargins!
I'll start with the clearance cart at my local Price Chopper... I always bring my coupons into PC simply because of their clearance cart. I didn't end up using any coupons this time, but I still got some great deals. The Welch's Squeezable Jam was marked down to .25! The Pringles were .50 a can and the 10 pack of Pop Secret mini bags was only $1.25. Nice!

The Deals:
There were a whole lot of deals this week, so I'll only touch on the truly exciting. The Hy-Vee closest to my house is celebrating their 10th anniversary, which means they had some extra special deals at their location. Lucky me, one of those special deals also had printable coupons this week! I paid a mere $2 for 4 packages of Keebler Fudge Shop Cookies. $2!! They were on sale for .99 a package and I had 2 save $1/2 coupons. I saved 81%. Also at Hy-Vee I picked up the Kraft Cheese for only $1 a package (again had some printable coupons) which is 59% off. The grape tomatoes were marked down to .99 a pint (normally $3.68 each) which is 73% off. I've been asked to bring Diet Coke to a party next week and lucky me, Hy-Vee had 2 liter bottles on sale for .88 each (48% off). Lastly the chicken leg quarters were only $3.90 per 10 pound bag. That will last us a long time!

Price Chopper had some equally (if not more!) exciting deals for me this week. The Wish-Bone Salad Dressings ranged in price from .47 each to .97 each (62%-84% off). The Lipton Iced Tea was $1 a box (70% off) and the Sara Lee bread was FREE! The hamburger and hot dog buns were only .79 each (down 74%) so I bought one of each even though I don't need them right now. With summer here I'm sure I'll find a use for them! I'll be trying out the new I Can't Believe It's Not Butter Baking Sticks considering I snagged the box for only .75 (73% off). Last but certainly not least, the Blue Bunny Ice Cream bars were only .99 each (49% off) so I stocked up on some of those!

Total Before Sales, Coupons and Tax: $182.10
Total After Sales and Coupons: $76.67 (58% off!)

Now I've been getting questions recently about what kinds of foods we actually make with all of the seemingly random groceries I buy at time. I'll post a meal plan either tomorrow or Monday. For now though I would highly encourage you to read this post over at Money Saving Mom! She really hits the nail on the head about stocking up on deals, but then not necessarily using all of that food the following week. (So no, my family will not be trying to eat through the 20+ pounds of chicken I bought this weekend.)

You're starting to rub off on me Helen...

Yesterday at the store groceries added up to 217.87 (a lot of stock-up items). After coupons and "club card" - I spent $119.96 (savings of 45%) Oh, and $11 of this purchase is for work stuff...

Thanks for being a good influence :)

Wow Helen you amaze me, I wish I could get organized like this. It probably doesn't help that I am picky with what I buy too? I am amazed with your finds though it is awesome!!
