I've been struggling for the past few weeks with some serious mom burnout. It hit me quite suddenly and I was relieved to hear this weekend that I'm not the only one struggling with this. In order to try to lighten the mood I looked for things that make me smile right now. In no particular order, here they are...
Cute moments I capture in a picture.
The Office. Nick and I started watching it this winter and some friends loaned us seasons 1-4 so we could "catch up". We watched 4 or 5 episodes last night (almost done with season 2!) and were laughing constantly!
Watching the boys learn new things. Look at how well they're balanced on these "big boy" swings!
Red Sox hats. Need I say more?
The Mom Song by the kids music group Go Fish. I came across this song yesterday on YouTube when looking for fun videos for the boys to watch.
Time out with Nick (which we hadn't had since early January). Yesterday a couple of girls from my high school small group volunteered to watch the boys for us so that Nick and I could attend the Royals/Tigers game with some friends! The seats were awesome (5 rows from the visitors dugout!) and the game was terrible if you're a Royals fan, but it was a good time.

Hang in there, Helen. All moms go through a "burn out" stage (or two or three or ten or fifty!!). Hope your night out left you at least a little rejuvinated (and LOVE the office!!).
Are you guys going to the play date Friday in Lee's Summit?
Take care,
Kara
Hang in there! I love the pic of the boys in Sox hats! And glad to hear that the Tigers won too, that'll make my brother easier to live with for his very pregnant wife!
Hang tough Helen! Hope you guys had a great night away! We love the office here too. It is about my hometown of Scranton, PA!
Love the Red Sox hats! Glad to hear that you and Nick had a night out - well deserved.
My husband and I watch The Office too - great show.
Those things make me smile, too! Well, except for time with your husband. I'd rather spend time with MY husband. ;-)
Maybe Mom and I could watch the monkeys on one of the nights we are there. Plan on it if you can. Love you.
I feel you! I've been experiencing the mom burnout too. Just when I feel like I'm on the upswing, I feel like I drift back down. Not sure what to do about it. I'll be praying for you!
