Taking Care of Yourself - A Giveaway

I am a big proponent of moms getting a little "me time" at least once a week. Whether that solitary time is at the grocery store, the library, a coffee shop or hanging out with friends, Me Time is a must. Sadly, Me Time in your own home can be hard to come by at times.

Last week I got a big box from the folks at MyBlogSpark and Yoplait. Inside the box were some items to help me get some Me Time here at home! Inside was a nifty little spa/pampering set and a couple of coupons to try the new Yoplait Greek Yogurt for free.

I've been curious about Greek Yogurt for a while now, but have never gotten around to trying it. I'll be honest, the price is a little high for my liking. I'm used to paying 10 to 15 cents a cup for yogurt so seeing cups selling for $1 or more each was a bit shocking. You know what though? After trying the Yoplait Greek Yogurt I'll definitely be splurging on this stuff once in a while!

I shared the first cup, honey vanilla flavor, with my sister (she'd never had it before either) and we both agreed that while the texture is a bit different (thicker and yet slightly grainy or dry feeling on your tongue) it's quite good. And for 12 grams of protein per cup we'll put up with the odd texture! A couple of days later I tried the strawberry flavor mixed with some low-fat granola for breakfast. Talk about a breakfast power house - 18 grams or protein and 7 grams of fiber in that bowl of yogurt and granola! My sister also mentioned she'd heard that Greek Yogurt is awesome on your face, as a mask.

#1) How do I currently take care of myself? Well, I'm not a mommy, but I still take time for myself out of my stressful days as a full-time student and working 34 hours a week. I have gone into 100% natural hair-care for myself which includes using ZERO shampoo. I thoroughly enjoy trying new natural recipes on my hair and sometimes find wonderful 100% natural recipes for skin care that I try out as well. It is very relaxing for me to mix up lovely concoctions of sweet-smelling essential oils and other regular household ingredients and massaging them into my scalp for a chemical-free clean. I love sitting in a bathtub with lavendar castile soap scents filling the room and relax while getting a lovely skin treatment with the natural oils.
I know that once I become a mommy (one day down the road) the opportunity to do things like that will be few and far between, so I do it as often as I can now. :)

I just started drinking Slim fast. I don't do it as a meal replacement, but it has some SERIOUS nutrients and in just the month that I have been drinking it i have noticed a BIG difference in my hair and nails.

I relax and read a book while the boys nap :) Unfortunately with hubby in school full time and working full time it is hard for me to get out of the house alone so I enjoy my alone time while the house is quiet!

My sis-in-law and I go out for pedicure and dinner date every couple of months (she has also been my BFF since junior high school). It feels like the long lost "before kiddos ruled our world" days. I also try to give myself 30 minutes to relax after the boys go down for a nap before I start chores or dinner.

boo to not being able to use the coupon, but I'd be up for the pamper treatment :)

I pamper myself/get "me" time when I go for my morning run, the occasional bubble bath and the occasional scrapbook day.

I read almsot every evening, rather than tv - especially history and historical fiction. I enjoy it and it is something I do for me.

I like to take time after the kids are in bed to read a magazine or surf the web. It is just time for me to think about other things besides being a mom. I also like to get coffee with friends, that is probably my number one way of taking care of myself.
