Multiples and More: Blogaversary Celebration

Giveaway #1
Jumbo Pack of boys Huggies Pull-Ups - size 2T-3T
About a month ago I had the privilege of being in on a Huggies Potty Training conference call. The call was "attended" by 5 other bloggers, a PTing expert and the creator of the Huggies Potty Dance song. In exchange for my participation in the call I was sent a pack of Pull Ups to give away on my own blog and a $100 pre-paid Visa card for myself. Sweetness!

At the time of the call Tyler was still giving us trouble in the poop department. I asked the expert for any advice she could share and she did mention one thing that helped push Tyler along: we were told to reinstate treats/rewards for the other two once in a while so that Tyler was reminded of how cool it was to get rewarded. Well whaddya know - it worked.

I also asked her about night time training and she mentioned that most children take 6-9 months to train from start to finish (night time trained), so we probably were getting close to the point where the boys would start waking up dry. Good news indeed!

So are you currently potty training a child, or two or three? Are you beginning to think about? Still in denial that is has to happen? Maybe receiving a package of Pull Ups in the mail will be just what you need! Here's how to enter:
Do one or all of the following. Please leave separate comments for each entry.
1. Leave one PTing tip or question you have.
2. Become (or tell me if you already are) a follower of this blog.

What do you think is better: a little potty chair or a potty seat that goes on top of the potty?

I have 2 yr old twin boys and am scared to death to potty train! In hind's sight would you potty train all at once or one at a time?

Hannah stole my question! :O)

I also have 2 year old twin boys. My husband and I have introduced the idea of PTing, but haven't seriously started it. They go to daycare, and do great going on the potty there, but are more stubborn at home. We've been thinking about starting this summer (when there aren't so many clothes to deal with). I also wanted to know if you recommend all at once or one at a time?

I'm going to start PTing my 2.5 year old quads this summer! My tip is to do it outside during summer...easier to clean up accidents & less clothes!!!

My PT tip is to train boys to SIT. They won't poop if you let them stand, lol!

I'm a follower... maybe some pull-ups will get me motivated.

Tip: Find the right reward AND the right underwear (aka something that your child likes/picks out).

Once we used lollipops as the reward for just going #1 - voila! (Stickers, cookies, M&Ms never did the trick).

And once we found Wiggles Undies - he didn't want to make them "sad" with accidents. Not the same for his super heroes or Thomas.

Announced the giveaway on Facebook too!

My tip: Know how your kid is motivated. M&Ms were a nice reward but my son was most encouraged by praise. Every time he went potty, we went way overboard with praise. His day care took a similar approach. Then, we scaled back the praise gradually.

Someone else mentioned my tip... know what motivates your child. My daughter was easily motivated by stickers on a chart and a crazy "potty dance". For my son, fruit snacks made a big difference. I will say he was 23 months when he started "getting it" though...he continues to challenge me some days and it has been 6 months so sometimes I wonder if I don't know him as well as I thought!

I guess I am wondering what the signs of readiness really are?

Hi Helen! I am about to potty train John (2.25 years old). Do you think I should wait until after our week-long vacation in May, or would it be better to get a start on it now? He's giving me all the signs that he's ready except he doesn't wake up dry in the morning (although we let him take a sippy cup of water to bed with him at night, so do we take that away at night?) Thanks! I'd love the pull-ups! :) I love your blog!
