This week there were lots of "healthy" options on sale! Must be all those New Year Resolutions prompting the sales. In addition to what you see below, I had Nick pick up some Sweet Potatoes and more Organic Apples when he was near Hen House yesterday evening. Those items, plus what you see below ran us $71.62.

The Deals: At Target I snagged the two boxes on Finish Dish Tabs for only $1.98 total (77% off) thanks to my buying two papers last week (there was a $2.50 off coupon in there!). I also picked up the milk at Target and then noticed 2 stores later at HyVee that the Heartland Creamery hormone free milk is cheaper by about .50 a gallon. Now I know for next time. (I did checked Aldi too, based on a comment left last weekend and their milk is not hormone free.)
HyVee had lots of good deals this week in the produce section! The Dole Salads were BOGO at $2.88 each, the Pineapple was $1.99 (50% off), the grapefruit were 4/$1 (through Sunday only!), the baby carrots were BOGO at $1.49 each, so I paid $3 for 4 bags. The Storage Bags worked out to .85 after the coupon from HyVee.com AND the .15 off peely that was on the box. The Era Laundry Detergent was $5.99 (40% off). The shrimp was $3.99 a pound and will be a real treat to have here! The organic yogurt was .80 each plus I put them in the special sack in the health department to get an extra 10% off (along with the pasta and Annie's Mac n Cheese I bought the boys). The pudding cups I bought were all free thanks to a little party I'm hosting by HouseParty.com. As a bonus, HyVee is running a deal right now where I earned a $2 off my next shopping trip because I bought 3 packages! Had I known that I'd of bought more (5 packs earned you $5 off your next trip).
Hen House had organic apples for $1.28 a pound again and the sweet potatoes were .79 a pound.
Total Before Sales, Coupons and Tax: $120.77
Total After Sales and Coupons: $68.54 - 45% savings plus $2 earned at HyVee

Hey there, just curious where you found out that the aldi milk is not hormone free? Wanting to know for my own knowledge. Everything I've seen and read says it is, but I know I shouldn't believe everything I read :) Sorry if I gave you false info!!!
(The Aldi's where I've seen the signs are on the ks side - would that make a difference??)
Emily, I was in an Aldi on the Missouri side. I looked for signs on the doors and for any hormone wording on the packages and didn't see any, with the exception of their eggs (which are hormone free!). I'll have to check out a KS side Aldi sometime soon.
Do you really think that organic food is healthy? I think its just another way to make people spend more money.

After doing some reading and research lately, yes I think there are certain foods that it is definitely healthier to eat organically. Fruits and veggies you eat the skin on are a big one I think. I would ultimately like to go organic on milk, but I'm just not sure yet that our budget can handle it.
