Saturday Savings

Sometimes when I'm out shopping, I wish I had someone there with me so I could give them a high five each time I find a truly awesome bargain. I suspect I'd look pretty silly high fiving the air, so I just try to smile and move on. Last night there were lots of instances where a high five would have been appropriate! I spent $79.17 on everything you see below (which, I'm sorry it looks like a big mess - I was in a hurry to get stuff into the fridge and freezer)...

Hy-Vee:
Butter - 3 boxes
Brown Sugar Deli Ham - 1.5 pounds
Suave Body Wash - 2 bottles
HyVee Wheat Bread - 1 loaf
Peter Pan Peanut Butter
M&M Ice Cream bars - 1 box
Hot Dogs
Trix Yogurt - 2 multi packs
Yoplait Kids Yogurt - 1 multi pack
Aztec Tortillas - 2 packages
Granny Smith Apples - 4 pounds
Seedless Watermelon

Aldi:
Whole Milk - 2 gallons
Skim Milk - 1 gallon
White Bread - 2 loaves
Eggs - 1 dozen

Hen House:
Warm Delights Minis - 2 packages
Betty Crocker fruit snacks - 2 boxes
Betty Crocker Fruit Roll Ups - 2 boxes
Nature Valley Chewy Trail Mix Bars - 2 boxes
Nature Valley Granola Bars - 2 boxes
Pillsbury Grand Biscuits - 3 tubes
Pillsbury Crescent Rolls - 2 tubes
Crayola 24 pack Crayons - 5 boxes

Price Chopper:
Ken's Salad Dressings - 2 bottles
Ken's Marinades - 2 bottles
Grande Tortilla Chips - 1 bag
Danimal Yogurt - 2 multi packs
Flinstone Gummy Vitamins
Red Grapes - 2.25 pounds
Digiorno Flat Bread Melts - 2
Boneless Top Sirloin Steak - 3.5 pounds
Dove Intense Shampoo
Dove Intense Conditioner
Garnier Fructis Mousse

The Deals: We'll start at Hen House this week, where my receipt showed a savings of 73%! Hen House was where I was able to stock up on some sweet deals for snacks... The fruit roll ups and fruit snacks were all $1 a box (65% off), the granola bars were between $1 and $1.20 (depending on my coupons) a box (66% off), the Crayons were only .20 each (90% off) and the Warm Delights packages were just .50 each (82% off).

I had a field day at Price Chopper too this week! The Ken's dressings and marinades (4 bottles total) were only .50 each after my coupons (80%-86% off)! The tortilla chips were $1 (71% off). I don't usually buy steak, in fact I can't even remember the last time but I've been doing so well with our budget lately and the steak was a good price so I went ahead and bought some. The top sirloin was $2.49 a pound (58% off). Now even though those deals are exciting and fantastic, they're nothing compared to the deal I found in a clearance cart! Garnier Fructis Mousse for $1 (about 70% off) and Dove Intense Shampoo and Conditioner for $1. To make the Dove deal even better though I had 2 coupons for $1 off one Dove Shampoo or Conditioner, so I got both bottles for FREE!

HyVee wasn't as exciting as Hen House or Price Chopper, but I still found my share of good deals.... Peter Pan PB was .99 - unfortunately it was limit 1 at that price, so I couldn't use the coupon from last week's paper! The hot dogs were .99 and normally that brand is $3.28. The M&Ms ice cream treats were only $1.29 (68% off) and the butter was $1.38 (44% off).

Total Before Sales, Tax and Coupons: $182.07
Total After Sales and Coupons: $73.54 - 59% off overall

Saturday Savings is a chronicling of how I shop for my family for $310 a month (groceries, paper products, toiletries and cleaning supplies). I utilize the Grocery Game website for a couple of the stores and utilize my mad couponing skills for the others. Money Saving Mom, Thrifty and Chic Mom and Frugal, Freebies and Deals are some of my favorite "deal" websites!

Sending you a high five - although when in public, I've been known to literally pat my self on the head. :)
